Summerhill

Not a long, or difficult, climb by any stretch, but it’s a nice bit of road in the midst of urbanity.

Starting by Pumphreys showroom, the climb goes, essentially, straight up the side of the hill. Assuming you can tear yourself away from the aroma, it’s time to pick a low gear and get going. For the first 2/3 of the ascent, the gradient is up around the 10% mark, but it’s pretty constant and it slowly levels off after that.

As you haul yourself up, you can wonder at the logic of building houses up here when there’s some perfectly good flat ground 100m away. If nothing else, it’ll take your mind off the climbing…

It’s short and sweet, this one: if you’re looking for somewhere to do 2 minute VO2Max style efforts then it’s pretty much perfect!

Once at the top, kick back and relax basking in the knowledge that you’ve done a great job!
