  • Route Notes: The tides here are very fast moving so, before you attempt this ride, please check the tide tables, here, to make sure that it will be safe for you to ride across the causeway in both directions. The car parking in Wooler is free, but it can occasionally get busy during the summertime, particularly at weekends. You will have to cross over the A1 as part of this route, but, so long as you’re patient, there are plenty of opportunities to safely make it from one side to the other. There are some glorious coastal views along this ride, so it’s worth taking a camera. And, finally, it’s advisable not to partake of too much of the local mead before the return trip as it’s fairly strong stuff!

Hard – Surrey Classics

Very Hard – Shropshire Hills
